The Directorate is housed in the Vigyan Bhavan, Ground floor located at Pt. Nehru Complex at Gurkhabasti, Agartala, West Tripura, Tripura -799006. The Directorate of Biotechnology (DBT), established in January 2002 under the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Government of Tripura, serves as the state's primary agency for promoting Biotechnology applications, aimed at sustainable socio-economic developments. Its mission is to enhance the management of bio-resources in Tripura through biotechnological interventions.
